On Linux Mint the Waterfox task bar icon is systematically replaced (some time after an update) by a zoomed square icon of Firefox, since more or less six months.
Reproducible?
I have checked that this issue cannot be reproduced on Mozilla Firefox.

What desktop version of Mint are you running? I'm seeing this on Xubuntu too.
Firefox logo appears on second load of Waterfox 6.5.x (and all other subsequent loads).
I also noticed the "about waterfox" popup window says "About Mozilla Firefox" instead of just Waterfox.
For the time being I'm using @hawkeye116477 version of Waterfox (which does not show this odd behaviour).
Oh, also to add it does NOT go away when using a new profile - so can rule out anything to do with profiles.
I am on Linux Mint 22. It started again, before yesterday : update to 6.5.7, yesterday : waterfox icon, today, after a short shutdown between two sessions : broken icon.
