Quick summary

So I'm trying to use a Nintendo HORIPAD controller to play games on here, but it keeps giving me this error every time I save the pad settings, and when I go back to it it says no devices connected.

Details

I plug in the controller, go to the pads section (the controller only pops up when I close the app and open it), select HORIPAD, hit save, notice it doesn't work in game, go to pads, the controller is missing and doesn't appear even when clicking refresh and gives this error message: E SDL: Could not open device 1! SDL Error: HIDAPI device disconnected while opening

Physical PS3?: I don't think this controller would work with it

System configuration

I feel like this shouldn't matter for a controller issue but oh well

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor | 16 Threads | 31.93 GiB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti on driver 576.28.0.0
Windows 11
NVME 2TB

Other details

I'd like to add that I've tried versions 0.0.36-17967 and 0.0.36-17947 and the same error happened

why would it say HORIPAD ?
seems like there's something wrong with your drivers

I'm sorry, I have no idea what specific controller it is but it has official nintendo switch branding, but it's just a wired controller. I thought all controllers were pro controllers but I looked it up and mine is full red not black (or wireless)

Edit: I found the exact one

Any ideas for what's causing it?

Thought I'd mention that this also happens with an official Dualshock 4 and Dualsense.
The moment you boot a game it stops being recognized, you have to unplug it / turn it off then connect it again for it to work.
