Query about project health?

It seems to have been over a year since a human interacted with this repository? I'm a little worried that, much like the original fork, this project is in danger of languishing, so was just curious about an update. Very much appreciate the effort of open source developers, the question is not meant as an attack, thank you for all that you do.

hi, i'm currently bringing whoosh up to snuff by adding typing annotations to it (and possibly more, if time permits) here. i'm considering maintaining this further as well (also if time permits). please note that at it's current state, it isn't ready for a pypi release yet

It’s a bit of a yikes, for sure. Given it’s the same situation as before, I don’t know if there’s anything else we can do about it other than fork again. In any case I’m primarily doing this for myself, it’s up to you if you wanna use it. If the current fork maintainers come back I wouldn’t mind upstreaming my contributions back in either.
