• Modern MPD support

  The MPD protocol has evolved and supports several new features that beets' BPD plugin hasn't implemented. Some of these (like advanced playback control) probably don't make sense in beets, but others are essential for better MPD client support.

• Modularise beets

  Some parts of beets are useful enough in their own right to warrant splitting them out into separate projects. For what's left, we should make sure that tools under `beets.util` are independent of any beets-specific logic or helpers.

• MediaFile++

  A few core refactors and improvements for beets' tag-writing layer. This might be a good time to split off the MediaFile project as a separate library, in which case this would probably be beets 1.4.0.
