In a private repo, we have a dependabot scheduled to update submodules daily. This has been working ok until last night when dependabot deleted the submodule and replaced it with a text file of the commit hash instead. We'll watch again for tonight's activity but wanted to highlight this unexpected behavior in case anyone else saw this too.
