I'll create a GitHub issue based on your description for a secure agent-to-agent communication protocol.

Proposal: Secure Agent-to-Agent Communication Protocol (RFC)

Description

We should develop a new communication protocol specifically designed for agent-to-agent (A2A) communication as an alternative to traditional HTTP. This would involve drafting a formal RFC to establish a standardized approach for secure and efficient A2A interactions.

Motivation

Current HTTP-based communication models weren't specifically designed for agent-to-agent scenarios and may have limitations in terms of security, efficiency, and specialized agent communication needs. A dedicated protocol could better address the unique requirements of modern AI agent ecosystems.

Proposal

  • Create a formal RFC document detailing the proposed agent-to-agent communication protocol
  • Focus on security-first design principles
  • Define a clear specification for message formats, authentication, and interaction patterns
  • Reference similar work like ANP as a foundation
  • Consider compatibility with existing agent frameworks while providing enhanced capabilities

Benefits

  • Improved security model tailored to agent communication needs
  • More efficient message exchange than HTTP in agent-specific contexts
  • Standardized approach to A2A communication across the ecosystem
  • Future-proofing for increasingly complex agent interactions
