Reduce CF on K8s WG Costs

This is a tracking issue for all cost reduction activities in the CF on K8s WG.

As discussed during the TOC meeting on 3rd of June 2025 we agreed on the following activities:

• WG leads should get Ternary access
• Make a report for your Working Group that you should track
• 1 month from now at next meeting, report an idea (implemented or not) for how you will reduce costs
• Contribute to the cost optimization guide Create Automtion Cost Optimization Guide #1185
• Implement cost optimiztion ideas Create Automtion Cost Optimization Guide #1185
• Explore the cost optimization ideas suggested in Ternary

• We have created a report for our working group
• We went through the cost recommendations in the gcloud console and deleted some unused disks that should save around $40 per month.
• We also deleted an unused static ip (looks different from the one you have found as it would save arount $7)
• We noticed that we could save 30 to 50% if we buy Committed Use Discounts. This however should be a decision of the foundation.
• In the Gross cost by project report there is a korifi project. We do not know what this is and have no access to a project with such name in gcloud. It could be a leftover from the former us part of the team. We should investigate and delete it as unused.

@beyhan how did you find the unused static address above?

@georgethebeatle it is shown by Ternary when you go "Resource Utilization -> Google Compute -> Optimizations (tab) -> Filter by Sub Account (button) -> select cf-on-k8s-wg".

@georgethebeatle you could also save more than 20% moving to a cheaper region as described in the Cost Optimization Guidelines we are working on. Currently more than 90% of cf-on-k8s-wg are generated in europe-west1 which is much more expensive compared to europe-north2.
