Use both sessionStorage and localStorage

Is it possible to configure multiple instances so that both session and local storage can be used for different purposes?

I think you could do something like this – using angular.module (IMO best practice anyways :-)

// Application
angular.module('App', ['app.controller.foo', 'app.controller.bar']);

// Application foo module
angular.module('app.controller.foo', ['LocalStorageModule'])
    .config(function(localStorageServiceProvider){
      localStorageServiceProvider.setPrefix('FooCtrl');
      localStorageServiceProvider.setStorageType('localStorage');
    })
    .controller('FooCtrl',
      ['$scope','localStorageService',
      function($scope, localStorageService) {
      // Magic local stuff ....
      }
    ]);

// Application bar module
angular.module('app.controller.bar', ['LocalStorageModule'])

The problem with that solution is that you can't use both local and session storage within the same module

I wonder if you could abstract each service out into (yet) another service? One instantiates and provides an interface to localStorage, the other sessionStorage. Then you can inject these services rather than the localStorageServiceProvider?

localStorageService.set(key, val, 'sessionStorage');
