Exporting to PDF

I know you are working crazy hard on this, but is there a timeline for extensions to be part of the PDF / Image export?

I am asking this for a customer(s)

We are hoping (fingers crossed) to get a preview of this in as part of Tableau Desktop 2020.3. @Kovner will have more details.

More details:
2020.3 Desktop will be able to render extensions in pdf/image versions of dashboards. We don't have a timeline for Server and that's proving to be a much bigger project, but one we're committed to.

Hi @Kovner and @johnDance. With extensions becoming more integrated parts of published dashboards (like the Salesforce Einstein integration) in organizations the call for this function becoms louder. Can you maybe reveal some sort of roadmap or timeline for this request/function to manage expectations?

Hi @SiebeG: It is hard to imagine, but implementing this on server requires some architectural changes to how Tableau handles exporting images. We need to align various groups around our proposal. We are making progress, but it is still a ways off.

Update: this is working on Tableau Desktop now, but work is still in progress for Server and Online.

We have not received funding for this project yet. We will continue to lobby for it.
